Tree-Hares (Belgian Hare x Thrianta)
I currently have 3 'Tree-Hares' which are my own cross between a Belgian Hare sire x Thrianta dam.
I have 10, comprising 6 bucks and 4 does.
A chance mating between my Thrianta doe, Sophie, and my late tan Belgian Hare buck, Blackberry, gave me 3 stunning and unusual kits. I have now made secondary and tertiary crosses, and they do breed quite well to type, being slightly larger than a Thrianta, with the compact, stockiness, and the gentle, docile temperament, combined with the gorgeous sloping arched body and glorious glistening coat of the Belgian Hare.
Even though they are cross-breds, at least I still have a part of Blackberry, who very sadly passed away at the vets after a gastrointestinal illness. They all have his vigour and gentle, sweet, bright nature. So I'm pleased with them all.
(Also please see the Gallery for more photos.)
